Have You Noticed........

Have you noticed how much longer it takes to read and comment on blogs now that we have to type in the word verification?? Doug,

http://www.dversteeghblog.blogspot.com/

likes to make a game of it, by coming up with a sentence using the letters to form words. Some of them are next to impossible to do. There are only so many words that begin with x or z that one can use in a sentence. Maybe I just don't think fast enough, but Doug always seems to come up with a funny sentence.

Word verification is sort of driving me crazy, so I am trying to decide if I want to give up verification on my blog and just deal with deleting any spam comments I get. What do you think? Is it driving you nuts too?

For at least the next 24 hours, I am removing comment verification. I may decide to put it back - but for now - enjoy the freedom and speed!

Hi Judy..This is sooo amazing because I have been considering the very ame thing..these verification things are getting longer and lobger and l-o-n-g-e-r...AND, harder and harder and..you get whatI'm saying..and just these last two days, I have been thinking I'm going to get rid of it on mine!! Do let me know how it works out for you, please..
I'm here from Michele, tonight....been resting more today...I've been very tired and NOT sleeping well..so...here I am now!

Some of them bother me. Most of Halo Scan's are practical. Blogger has some ridiculous ones: italicized m's by n's or v's by u's, you get the idea.
The worst though are the black/white/gray background with black letters/numbers in front. Those drive me nuts!
I think word verification is something the blogging world is gonna have to get used to.

btw, Michele sent me :)

Good for you! I am tired of it too, but just got rid of haloscan because of all of its glitches and am not ready to go "all out there" without verification.

greetings! congratz on being blog of the day over at michele's, and hey, Michele sent me!!

the spam drove me crazy! i posted one picture and withing about 2 minutes i had 6 comments. all of them spam. so i turned on the verification, but i hate it too because i often dont get the letters right and have to try again and again. which drives me crazy. there has to be a middle way, but i dont know what it would be. let us know how many spam comments you got with the verification off!

Congratulations on being the repeat site of the day!! Michele sent me this morning and yes, word verification drives me nuts. Specially because I still got a spam comment from China despite of it. Unlike blogger, I cannot remove the code verification my site calls for. I am sorry about this. I have had cases where I just couldn't leave a comment because I looked like spam (who,me?) or had to wait and the system deleted my brilliant words.
And us bloggers love comments :D

Yes, if it weren't for those spammers, we wouldn't have to do that!

Congrats on being Site of the Day!

Hi Judy, you're a brave lady, if spam is as plentiful as it was I think you'll be back to WV. The system would be excellent if they would just use a normal font, the computer generated spam can't read that either so it's just some twisted individuals idea of fun making us decipher the wierd stuff.

I use wordpress and spamkarma so I don't have to make people go through word verification unless they're so confusing to the rest of the traps that they feel like spammers.

I don't mind the normal letters we're asked to type, but strings of eight, or letters so skewed you can't read them? Ridiculous.

Sadly though, if you eliminate it, others still have it ... sooo... it won't save that much time. BUT ... it is nice of you to do this for us! :)

The thing I really have a little problem with is this "comment moderation" deal. I just think that's a little much. It's like "okay let me see if your comment is worthy or not" ... I realize that's not the intention, but with the option of word verification, I can't help but feel the moderation thing is just a little 'hoity toity' for my liking. Any thoughts on that?
