That Addiction Thing Again

We have all written about being somewhat addicted to the computer; especially blogging. I was hard at it this morning early, when my hubby walked into the room with a disgusted look on his face, and said "That is your new husband!". I laughed, and then I began to think about it. We can get almost everything from the computer that we get from our spouse:

friendship, appreciation for our abilities or appearance, interesting and important news, compassion, recognition, pretty pictures, knowledge, humor, sex (sort of, if you are into porn), weather, directions, travel, income ......I could go on and on, and I am sure I have left out something important. But it seems to me that just about the only things a computer cannot provide are touch and smell.

I can only imagine how soon we will have an anouncement that one of the large computer manufacturers has added "smellavision" to their computer programs! Imagine that! When Angie http://www.bigredcouch.com/journal/ posts her birthday menus, we could get a whiff of each and every mouth-watering morsel. When I post photos of the latest wedding flowers, anyone could sniff the lilies and roses with just a click of the mouse. If you frequent any of the many sites which provide video of nubile young things (NO link provided!) running around in the buff.....well....you get the idea. I am surprised they haven't invented it already!

Yes, then there are pictures of the barnyard, the feedlot, the rabbit hutch, the chicken coop....all those smells we treasure so much.

Yes, I think I have weathered the storm and have gone from being completely addicted (over winter) to only moderately addicted (in nicer weather)

Phew! I think DIVORCE was on the cards! ;-)

I have noticed that sometimes I do spend more time on the computer or reading and then wonder why we haven't had any in-depth conversations lately. It's kinda strange, then I have to snap myself back into reality.

Good point! I just finished writing that my mother (who I'm visiting) can't understand why I would want to go the library rather than the beach! I needed to come to get caught up before I can relax! It's been challening to post from the road and so erratically. I have a work station set up on her dining room table...but she has no internet connection.

My husband also sniffs at my frequent trips to the computer, though I am not on it all the time, at home. Just every time he turns around, it seems. But hey, HE'S into golf all of a sudden, and I would say that is a more expensive and time-away-from-home-consuming habit. Ya know? :-)

There is something I can't get from this computer, and that's my husband's love; his kisses and cuddles. For that reason, though I have written about my computer addiction, this box will never replace him. But, oh, I do love to blog!

*LOL* That's so true. I spend so much time at the computer it's pracically an appendage of my own body. Haha! Michele sent me this way, by the way! ;)
