I Fell and I Almost Couldn't Get Up.....Update!

On Monday morning, I was walking from my kitchen to my bathroom to take a shower, and I tripped and fell flat, onto hardwood flooring. I hit my left-side ribs (mostly) and my cheek. I don't have the strength I used to have, and that, coupled with the slippery flooring, made it hard for me to get up. I scooted on my butt over to my bed, and pulled the comforter off onto the floor so I could use it to pad my knees. If I have knee padding, I can get up on my hands and knees. But without padding, I'd be lost.

Jim was right behind me; barking orders - as he does when he is scared. My falling always frightens him - mostly  he thinks about what might have happened, not what did happen. But I know he was just worried about me. Once I assured him I did not break any bones, he calmed down.

I am still very sore, but I thought by now I would have some bruising to show for it. The last time I fell (breaking my collarbone) the bruises showed up on day 4, and they were bad.  This time, I have no proof it happened....lol.  It has not slowed my schedule down any. On Monday, I went to a neighborhood luncheon. On Tuesday, I played Scrabble at the clubhouse and Tuesday night, I went to a comedy performance at the club house.  on Wednesday, I went to the funeral for a high school classmate who lived in this area. Today I went to the grocery store and tomorrow I am invited for tea at a friend's home. I am looking forward to a quiet weekend.

Next week we celebrate our 54th anniversary. We have not made any plans yet.....we will probably order takeout. After so many years, we don't feel the need to "paint the town red".

Update:  I finally went to the doc yesterday (July 5th.) The pain from the fall was getting steadily worse instead of better. I really began to think I might have broken or cracked a rib or two. But x-rays showed no such thing, so the doc prescribed a tube of Voltaren cream and 3 pain pills. I halved the pain pills and took one last night; affording me a very good night of sleep with no pain. I guess I just have to wait it out.

  6. I'm glad nothing was broken, Judy. Yikes! That sounds like quite a fall. Hope all is well now.
