Look who came to visit our pool this afternoon! Mr. kenju just happened to pass by a back window and see movement out of the corner of his eye. In the 25 years we have lived here, this has never happened that we know about. I guess we might be surprised at who or what takes a dip when we are not looking....LOL
I ran to get the camera, and he stayed there long enough for me to get 5-6 shots, most of which had him in silhouette. This is the best of the lot. Everytime I walked closer to him, he swam off in the opposite direction. I told him he could stay as long as he liked - but he flew off soon after Mr. kenju walked out onto the deck. We invited him to stop and visit anytime he was in the area. I just hope he doesn't bring his whole family next time!
Cute! But I agree, the entire family would be a messy situation.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly was a good day to take a dip. Wish we had one of those... pool, not duck.
ReplyDeleteThat pool looks like an oasis....refreshing...soothing.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture. I know you were grabbing the images as fast as you could, but the composition on this one looks like it took ages to set up: right down to the shadow. Great directionality.
ReplyDeleteI'd swim with him (her?) anytime. Just lovely.
I love the picture. How cool to see a visitor like that! ^5 on capturing his pic.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!

Too cute!!
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me of the geese that visited Tony Soprano's pool every year.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture!!!
ReplyDeleteI think he is admiring his own shadow. Also, wondering where the duckweed is. And the worms.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was about 8 or so I took care of a little abandoned duckling for a few months, and reared it at home. One day I had a bath with it. It was summer, and the water was cold, of course, and I was wearing a swimsuit, but my mother was still a bit surprised, especially by the worms I'd also added to the bath. (I washed them first, promise.) And the goggles and snorkel I was wearing, the better to observe - from below - the dive of my duckling.
It was FASCINATING.
If you could get your duck to cooperate, perhaps you could try something similar. I think you should start collecting worms now, just in case.
:-)
That's just ducky Judy, a flying visit no doubt.
ReplyDeleteI promise you...you don't want no family of ducks floating in your pool. Next year they'll bring the Hatfields, then the next year the McCoys, then the next year they'll bring their cousins the McGeese...
ReplyDeleteDucks gotta swim, fish gotta fly.. no, that CAN'T be right!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Et. And my, Mrs. Soprano, what a clean pool you have...
ReplyDeleteYou're Carmella Soprano? How did I miss that?
ReplyDeleteCute. I love the duckies.
How cute and great photo. Reminds me of looking out to the garage one morning this past winter...to see a fox sitting on the front seat of our golf cart staring back at me. Yeah, we left the garage door open.
ReplyDeleteGotta love those critters.
et took the words right out of my mouth but I can't remember the significance of them (ducks on Tony Soprano's pool)
