On Saturday night I was flipping channels on TV and up popped Val Kilmer in "Top Secret". How did I miss this when it came out in 1984? It was almost over, but since I have always thought Kilmer was easy on the eyes, I stuck around until the end. If you can get past his icky hair style, this one is worth killing a few hours on a Saturday night when you have nothing else pending.

Did you know that Kilmer can sing? I sure didn't. He plays an Elvis-type rock and roll singer turned international espionage agent. There are spoofs galore, of Blue Lagoon and other movies of that era.

Read about it here: http://www.fastrewind.com/
You'll have to scroll down the menu for the listing.

On another note: do you believe that in just 2 short weeks we will be at the half-way mark for 2006? Where has the time gone?

  2. This year truly is flying by. Often times, for me, time goes by slowly. That is a good thing. But, lately, time is really moving quickly. I hope it slows down!!

  3. Hi Judy ~~ Thanks for your comments.
Our slices are made from crushed sweet biscuits or a firm cake mixture that is baked and then put a caramel or lemon or
sweet mixture. Some are topped with melted chocolate and than cut into slices. Similar to cakes. Often sweetened condensed milk is in the filling layer. No 19 is me also !!
The year is surely flying. Take care,
    Merle.

  4. Val Kilmer has popped in several movies I never heard of while channel surfing. He is one of those actors who are not afraid to stray from his image and do the type of movie that doesn't always make it big.
I think he is good actor.

  6. Top Secret is one of those movies that I watch every time I find it on cable. I love it. Same for Real Genius, also featuring the incredibly hunky Val. HOpe your MOther's Day was nice.

  7. Hi, here from Michelle's tonight. I'm afraid I'm not in the least knowledgeable about movies, I can't even picture Val Kilmer.

  11. I think time flies now because I'm having more senior moments when I forget what day it is. If you think it's Monday but it is really Wednesday, then time has REALLY flown.

  12. I hadn't thought about it...but you're right! HALF the year gone already! Where has it gone is right! Rather scary, isn't it? How the days just seem to float away.

  14. Val Kilmer is over here quite a lot. Will look out for the movie. I watched on Saturday also - 'The English Patient' - again - which I find totally absorbing.

  17. I was wondering the same thing! I caught a sight of him dancing and couldn't believe I missed that movie. Then again, my parents didn't let me go to the movies, so that explains that. Still, I thought I'd seen every flick with Val Kilmer is in.

  19. I saw Top Secret on a date when I was in High School...I LOVED that movie! Val Kilmer's career definitely slid downhill after it. I'll never forget the Cow in Boots.
