A Good Philosophy
If a dog was the teacher , you would learn stuff like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout..! run right back and make friends.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
excellent advice! here from michele's tonight. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is great advice, no doubt. But what does the dog say about that incredible rock rising from Mt St Helens? Wow. I hope he's got some good tips for the folks living around there!

Hi Judy ~~ It seems like quite a good
ReplyDeletelesson for all of us, except for the digging up at the end of it.
You always find interesting things to
share with us. Thanks, Judy.
Take care, Merle.
We all need teachers like that Judy.
ReplyDeleteYOU DESCRIBED MY MAX!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHe does know how to get the most out of life.
He could also teach you how to get your way at 2 AM by barking under your mom's window. (It will most certainly lead to having a sleep-over with cat friends in the sunroom.) How did he learn so fast that I was such a sucker?
Dogs sure are smart. We can learn a lot from them.
ReplyDeleteDogs are gods! We can learn a lot from them ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd it all comes naturally!
ReplyDeleteWith us, it has to be learned.
and we think we are better than them. Hah!
I am handing this post over to my dogs to read. Well that is not really fair. They probably could have written it. They are good teachers in their own way. Although, my doxie is best at guilt producing with her big brown eyes.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh.
ReplyDeleteI've got the eating with gusto part down pat!
And don't forget about humping legs. Few things can compare, y'know?
ReplyDeleteI did a new design on my blog, Judy. I think you'll like it. Spring in NC with flowers and one mean cat. :-)
That last guideline is so precious, maybe I need a dog.
ReplyDeleteSo true.....no need to say more, I am going to play with my dogs now lol
ReplyDeletehow wonderful is that. just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSo true!
ReplyDeleteLoved all of the quotes. And I've always said....many dogs are more intelligent than us humans.
ReplyDeleteBoy - have they got it right!
ReplyDeleteLove all them, but principally this: "Never pretend to be something you're not."
ReplyDeleteDogs are pure love and wise!
