This is NOT the Way it Looks.......

at present. I took these photos in 1993.

Left: looking out the front door

Right: looking out the back door

I sincerely hope that we will not see anything similar in 2006!

We certainly have had odd weather this season. It is more like an extended Fall than Winter. It does make me wonder if we should be afraid of February! Has your weather been milder than usual too?
Note: I have out-of-town company this week, so I might not be able to visit you or post as usual. I will return asap.

  1. We've had essentially the same as yours. One very, very tiny snow on my birthday. Some cold but nothing like the teens we got down to this time last year. Either we should be afraid of February or the 90 degree stuff will be hitting in April instead of late like it did last year.

  2. Most definitely! Our weather here in Missouri has been more like early May weather! I too, am wondering when the ice storms are gonna hit lol. Crazy weather this year. I suppose we could chalk it up to global warming, but I have a feeling that winter isn't done with us just yet ;) lol

Beautiful photos though, even if they are not recent!

  5. Yes! It has been strange weather this year here in Kentucky also. It was unusually cold and nasty during late Fall and into December, then it warmed up and has been very nice for all of January so far. There's not much of January left. Yet, I fear that we may have to pay for this nice weather before winter is through with us. Still...I'll take all the nice Januarys that Mother Nature wants to see my way.

  6. Beautiful!
Around the Atlanta area, it seems it is have long periods of warmer weather, compared to other years. It seems that our Januarys in the past temperatures between 0 and 10 are not unusual, but this year, so far, it has not been under 32o but a few times, and not below 28 at all.

  7. What lovely vistas you have. I think I would gaze all day and to hell with the chores.
Today in Somerset UK it is unpleasantly cold.

  8. We have had a very mild winter so far, but last month's heat bell was outrageous. That's what scares me.

  10. I wish it did look like that out my window right now. I am sorely desiring some snow.

  11. No, Kenju. It's been colder than usual in Spain, with heavy snowfall in December in some parts of the country. And Spain is not prepared for snow! We are doing something very wrong to cause such strange seasons...

  13. Well- I'll come be out of town company. This looks so beautiful! I like that snow! Hope you're enjoying yourself (as global warming descends on us all...)

And, yes- I'm honored to be in the company of "old broads" as one of Gene's commenters noted. Yeesh!

  14. I'm not too much further north, and our winter has been incredibly warm. I'm kind of hoping for a little snow to play in.

  15. great pics! Our weather has been much milder than normal, too. We've had a few days with inversions, which means the cold air gets trapped in the valley and its actually warmer up at the local ski resort. But other than that, its been pretty mild!

  18. Those are beautiful pictures, even in shades of grey. I miss that kind of weather this year in California.

  19. My exercise partner was exclaiming on our way to the fitness center, this morning, about the oddly warm weather we've been having this winter. We're in the Wichita KS area.

  20. Yes, here too. Snowed and cold yesterday, but back to sunshine and moderate temps today. Seems usually get slammed in February.

  21. It is much milder than normal in Florida for this time of the year. By now we should have at least a freeze or two under our belt. I hear that February is when "weather Hell" is going to break out in the east and south. This winter mimics the infamous winters of 1958 and 1978 when blizzards occured in many places. It snowed in February in central Florida. Predictions say that between February 5-20 are the times of most concern.

  23. I love your photos. And like you, I wonder if we are going to be hit with a brutally cold February or March.

But I am enjoying the balmy weather when it's here!

  24. Those trees are mesmerizing. There's nothing I like more than an unbroken stand of trees. It absolutely changes how the environment comforts those who walk through it.
