This photo was taken in Norfolk, VA in
April, 1963. We were attending a party to celebrate the winning season of the basketball team on which my husband played when he was in the Navy. We were married about three months after this photo, at the Catholic Chapel on the Norfolk Naval Base.
I hope that each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, with lots of good food and fellowship. We had "turducken" at my daughter's home, and it was a nice change from the usual turkey and ham. We brought two of our grandchildren back home with us, and on the way, we stopped to eat hot Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. It was a great end to a good holiday.
Edit: several people asked about the turducken; it is a de-boned chicken, inside a de-boned duck, inside a de-boned turkey. Each cavity is stuffed with dressing, and the whole thing is roasted for hours. My son-in-law cooked it in their convection oven for about 4 1/2 hours. The turkey was delicious!
Happy Thanksgiving! I am here from Michele this time. I saw terducken on the cooking channel today. We just had plain old turkey!
ReplyDeleteHi Judy. I love this picture. I spent a lot of time going through photos from that era when we helped my parents move this summer. I felt like I was going back in time.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear you had a great Thanksgiving. I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate it than the way you described it.
Michele says hi, BTW.
Glad you had a great time at your daughter's and yummmmm those Krispy Kremes sound really good.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo! So glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteWOW, Judy..you were/are so beautiful and glamourous, too! Very Handsome Hub, as well!!!
ReplyDeleteI want to know what that was you ate for Thanksgiving dinner...I don't think I know what that is! Hmmmmm. You know, I've never had a Crispy Creme....I know...hard to believe! But, I'm afraid...I could become addicted to them, from what I hear about them....
Hope the rest of your weekend is lovely and filled with more good food and the joy of having your granchildren with you!
Some hubba hubba chick there Judy, what's that, oh yeah I see, there is a man in the photo too.
ReplyDeleteBy the way don't take that to mean that you are not very attractive now too... oh shut up, before you bury yorself completely.
Good morning, my first visit here, directed by Michele.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling picture.
ReplyDeleteWow Zounds!! What handsome/beautiful people.
ReplyDeleteTell me, what is terducken? I've seen it referenced before, but my eddication has been neglected.
Beautiful photo. I totally agree with the other commenters, you are a handsome couple.
ReplyDeleteKrispy Kremes....what a great way to end the holiday. I have only had them once. There is not a shop here, thank goodness or I would be waddling to it every day.
Terducken! We need more details. I know what it is (Hoss, it's some kind of pyramid scheme)- I just want to know how it tastes. Compared to Cajun fried turkey, that is. You guys are awfully good looking- do you take turns being the beast?
ReplyDeleteNo comment on the Krispy Kremes (but I'm swooning).
Sooo beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to try to make a turducken, but I am terrible with a knife...and the kids informed me that they were not eating any such thing!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all the pics you've been posting lately, btw. :)
Son-in-law sound like an accomplished cook :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day
What a good lookin' couple!
ReplyDeleteGooducken (Goose, Duck, Chicken)was the traditional English Xmas dinner for centuries (before you yanks sent your turkeys over here!). It had a bit of a revival last year when Marks & Spencer started selling them pre-prepared. Although at £65 (approx $120) we gave it a miss:-)
ReplyDeleteOne of our famous TV chefs did a 10 bird version!
It was: woodcock, pigeon, pheasant, partridge, mallard, guinea fowl, chicken, Aylesbury duck, goose and turkey for those of you interested.
I have never heard of such a food item! That must have been so interesting. Glad you had a lovely holiday, Judy. The photo is gorgeous (as is the couple in it!).
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous couple!
ReplyDeleteOnly today I saw this beautiful photo!
