I got a new phone for my birthday (later this week) and ordered a case for it from Amazon. It came today, and to my surprise, it was too small. So I've asked to return it and I re-ordered the correct case. It is so frustrating when you think you are ordering the right thing and it isn't. Most of the items on Amazon are easy to figure out, but this one mislead me. Tsk. tsk. The new one is supposed to arrive in two days and I really hope it does. I'm afraid I'll drop the phone and break it before the case gets here.
*****Edit: The case arrived in one day!! YAY for Amazon!
I took an old (93) friend out to lunch last week. Actually, she took me out for my birthday, but I drove. She asked before hand if I minded taking her to the hair salon after lunch and of course, I said no. So the day came, I picked her up at her preferred time - 11:30 - and we went to eat at a new place in North Raleigh called Big Ed's. We got seated immediately and by the time we had finished eating, it was 12:30. I asked her when her hair appointment was and she replied "2:30." I was dumbfounded and wondered what we would do for two hours. But there was nothing to do but wait. However, the restaurant had gotten very busy and it was obvious that the waiter wanted us to vacate the table. So I drove around for an hour and then went to a store near her salon. We walked around for 30-40 minutes, looking at stuff neither one of us was prepared to buy, and finally, we went to her salon. Luckily her hairdresser is used to giving a quick shampoo and blow dry to old ladies; she was done in 25 minutes. On the way back to her home, Jim called to see where I was, as he didn't expect me to be gone so long.
My new kitten has developed a streak of evil. My arms look as though I've been picking blackberries or pruning rosebushes without wearing gloves. She jumps up onto my computer and paws at the screen, trying to get the curser. When I pick her up to put her into the floor, she attacks me. I still love her, though she makes it hard sometimes....LOL

I love your post--truly sacred ordinary. You were a patient and good friend! As for your kitty, do they outgrow that? I'm not a cat person.
Judy your patience is saint like - both with the old lady and the kitten/cat.
Two of my kitties love some petting and are very sweet until I want to stop petting them then as I pull my hand away out come their claws to try and pull me back. I am finally getting quick enough to avoid the scratches.
I take an elderly friend swimming twice a week and it wears my patience thin to wait on her to dress and undress, etc. As you know from my recent email I don't have a lot of time to kill these day. LOL
You must really love that cat ! You are very patient and kind to your friend . Karma is good ! After all we'll be old some day !
You are such a good friend. My kitty used to climb into my lap to be petted and when she was finished nipped me and ran away. Never could solve the cipher of timing with her. :-)
It's never the animals fault is it, Judy? Or, at least that's what my animal lover friends tell me.
Good for you for being a friend to the woman and for not ripping out your cat's nails!
Well, Judy... it is now "later this week" and I haven't visited your blog in ages it seems like, but I do recall you and I having the same birthday. So let me make my wish...
"Have A Great Big Ole' Happy Birthday!!"
If this is nothing more than a senior moment and by chance its not your birthday today, I turned 74 today so I have an excuse!!!!
(P.S. - As far as the blogging goes, I'll make an effort to show up here more often than every few years!) :)
Hope you had a great birthday -- Oct is a good month for birthdays. Kittens can be unpredictable lively little creatures. My niece had a delightful little kitten but ended up with cat scratch disease from just a slight scratch, but trust you know to watch out for that. Expect you're enjoying the playful antics of your kitten.
