This is what kept my boss (Mel Day of Dogwood Tree Floral) and all his crew busy last weekend; a large wedding at Duke Chapel and reception at the Washington-Duke Inn.
Each centerpiece was made on a framework of plywood and dowels, all covered with fresh sheet moss. Each one had 8 sprays of phaelenopsis orchids, with green hydrangea, corkscrew willow and salal (lemon leaf). They were approximately 7-8 feet tall, and we did 19 of them, plus 2 smaller arrangements. It was a lot of hard work (although fun) and we are glad it is over!

My middle daughter had a New Years Eve wedding. THe ceremony was a 1pm and we were still dancing early into the next morning. I always tell her she got her monies worth out of that dress.

Reminds me of the table flowers at that black tie thing I went to in Chicago a couple months ago- tall like that, only these had sprays of very long stem dark red roses and maple leaves hanging down. Very dramatic. I like these that you did better- love the white phal and green hydrangea. Nice work, Judy!

ReplyDeleteBy the way, I photographed the red Buddha for you but it looked ugly so I described it in a comment after yours. Don't tell J but it's kind of garish. The body is gold and the robes are wine red of painted laquer I think.
