In Honor of Teachers......

"In a completely rational society, the best of us would be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less, because passing civilization along from one generation to the next ought to be the highest honor and the highest responsibility anyone could have."

Lee Iacocca,automobile executive (1924- )

World Teachers Day is October 5th. Let's celebrate the women and men who educate our children.

Kenju,

1. The teacher who had by far the most influence on both of my children was Carol, their mother. She home-schooled them from middle school through high school and made sure they were ready for college. In fact, both took college courses during their last year (or two!) of "high school," and went on to graduate from a 4-year college. One was magna cum laude.

2. Doesn't surprise me that you mentioned "American Pie" in your comment on my "Huh?" post, after your picture a week ago of the tee shirt with the picture of Louisiana on it.

I believe I had read that quote before. Thanks for sharing it. Yes, that is certainly ideal.

My son has a degree in that engineering, but when he interned, found that was not really what he wanted in life.

He, instead, became a campus minister for three years, and is now teaching eighth grade math. If anyone can make a difference in lives, he will...if the system will just let him.

I couldn't agree more! Teaching truly is an unbelieveable responsibility. Think of how many of the folks we remember from many years ago are teachers---both good and bad!

Loved the hints, Kenju. I hadn't known about most of them and I know I'll use at least some. The flowers pix were great too---what magnificent sunflowers. My favorites!

They should be paid like lawyers and doctors.

Should I, on the 5th, repent of all my evil deeds directed at teachers? Nah, but they were pretty special for not giving up on us...

My wife, who teaches Grade 2, would wholeheartedly agree. Watching her with her class is like watching an artist create magic.
