Redux: Remember this Guy? ~ Uh-Huh!

Yours truly with Ed, August 2, 2006.

You may remember my post of July 20th, in which I told you of my impending visit from Ed Rabel, former CBS/NBC correspondent, who now works for my college, The University of Charleston (WV). Today he came to visit, and with coffee and cinnamon pecan rolls, we sat down to discuss everything from college to the war. He is delightful, and we very much enjoyed our visit with him.

The word money was only mentioned once - but he left us with a brochure about the school building programs and the opportunities for naming rights through funds given to the school. He was really low-key about it, for which I was thankful. Very thankful!

He told me that there are quite a few people here in our area who graduated from my school; I was unaware of that. We are going to try and get a group together in the future.

Hello Judy ~ Nice to see a photo of you with the friend Ed who visited. And I liked all the collectables behind you. It is nice to meet up with old friends. Sorry we cannot swap our weather, but it will soon be Fall for you and Spring for me.
I heard on the news tonight, there has been a few deaths from heat in the U S and that is scary. Drink lots of water and Take care, Merle.

Hiya Judy! Nice photo!

The one thing I do miss about NOT having moved to Charleston is that I had planned to take some writing/journal classes there as they are some of the best in state. Who knows, may have had him for a prof or a speaker sometime :)

I complimented a lady yesterday on her lovely tan. Said she got it at Holden Beach. I thought of you :)

With no cable and so much to do here, I feel a bit isolated as to the goings on elsewhere. I gather this heat wave extends all the way down to South Carolina, so Virginia Beach and your neck of the woods is under the gun as well.

Mom keeps in touch with a group of her classmates living in the Tidewater area as well as in other parts of Virginia and West Virginia. Talk about a small world. Perry Tanksley was her class president at Asbury College 55 years ago. He lives in Jackson, Mississippi and has an established greeting card business for which he writes the poetry. The Front Door restaurant in Columbus where we used to live also had a gift shop. Donna liked to choose local and state artists to stock her store and she sold some of his cards, before I ever knew how well he knew my mom. Hmm. Perhaps there is something in that 6 degrees of separation thing afterall.

I bet you would have a great time getting together with others from your school. Go for it!!

Very nice photo -- of BOTH of you! Guess I lose my bet that he'd talk about a legacy or behest. Good. I'm glad you had a good visit.

What a nice photo of you, Judy! Thanks for sharing it with all of us! I'm glad that Ed wasn't heavy-handed with his fund-raising. Maybe he wants you to front the money so that they can name something after him!

Michele sent me here and I just saw your comment on my blog. Your comment never came through last night. Sorry about that!

Hope you're having a great day!

That is so cool! And you, my dear, are just as lovely as I'd imagined.

PLEASE remind me to forward you two articles by Ike Seamans - one written pre- and one written post- his return to Charleston for the first time in eons for the big reunion this summer. My dad printed them and mailed them to me, bless his heart, so I'll have to go look them up. I think you'll really enjoy them!

My college never offers me pecan rolls when they call for money--of course having three degrees from three schools means things get spread pretty thin. You're beautiful and I like the books and nick-nacks in the background.

I think ol' Ed came around hoping he could move in on Mr. Kenju's woman!

And Judy, I have to say, you could pass for one of my aunts. The resemblence is uncanny!

I think he looks better when he stands next to you. Funny how he never seemed quite so dapper when he was on-air.

I think it's definitely your aura.

So lucky of you to meet broadcasting royalty. What I would have given to be a journalistic fly on the wall :)
